Pride was Fucking Awesome

Pride festivals all around the US had something a lot a bit extra to celebrate this year with the Supreme Court handing down a ruling in favor of marriage equality and removing one more hurdle in the way of allowing us all to treat each other like equals.

As you can tell, I'm all for accepting people who marry for love to marry for love. I was in California when Prop 8 passed. And now that we'm in Saint Petersburg the day after this ruling, heck ya we're going to party our asses off :D

Nighttime Parade

The format was pretty neat. As Asa pointed out, they hold the pride parade at sundown due to the heat and humidity here in St Pete's. And you know what? That's probably one of the best ideas I'm glad somebody had the stroke of genius to propose.

The parade route went isn't too long and is mostly on central ave. The event was very well planned and everyone was very respectful.

There was BBQ, plenty of booze, people of all shapes and colors, and some rocking DJ's. There was even one guy hustling by the porta-potties offering people waiting in line an opportunity to use his neat and tidy bathroom for $1. Seriously.

It was like the Disney Main Street Electric Parade and Mardi Gras rolled up in one - with what seemed like every business and group of people worth their salt showing solidarity with the LGBT community.

Thanks Magnolia Lane!

Asa was rocking her new dress from Magnolia Lane, and we were much too busy partying it up to remember to take too many pictures, but we did manage a few :)
