I just came across a neat article on the BBC about a Dr Hirschhorn who worked on and discovered the particulars of rehydration therapy.

Strangely enough, for an article that highlights the simple life saving properties of a very specific mixture of salt, sugar, and water, there is no mention of what that mixture is.

So I hopped on over to wikipedia and found it:

6 tsp Sugar, 0.5 tsp Salt, 1 qt water.

Or, if you’re in a pinch, since there are 3 tsp in a Tbsp and 64 Tbsp in a quart, know that the ratio is

2 : 1/6 : 64.

Given Asa and I’s world sailing ambitions, I feel that knowing this by heart and by taste will be a good thing.
